Having previously completed his PhD in Medical Physics, Andy Finucane qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons Dublin in 1999. He moved to the west coast of Scotland to begin his GP training in 2000, later completing a Masters in Primary Care with the University of Glasgow.

He worked as a GP partner for 9 years, becoming a GP trainer in 2009, before moving with his wife and 2 daughters to Dorset in 2014, where his wife took up a Consultant post in Palliative Care in Dorchester.

When not working he enjoys spending time at the beach, walking the dogs, windsurfing and sea swimming.
