Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of coughs and colds.

It usually gets better by itself, but it can be serious for some babies and older adults.

RSV infection often causes symptoms similar to a cold, including:

  • cough
  • sore throat
  • sneezing
  • a runny or blocked nose

You will be contacted by the surgery if you are eligible for the RSV vaccination.

Eligible patients include those aged 75-79 and pregnant women from their 28th week.
