Quarterly Newsletter

 March 2026

We’re pleased to welcome you to our latest quarterly update, bringing you a range of health tips, practice news, and helpful information as we move through the winter months.

This newsletter is designed to keep you informed about what’s happening at the surgery, share practical ways to look after your health, and help you access the support you need. Whether you’re looking for seasonal wellbeing advice, updates on our services, or insights into the work of our team, we hope you find this edition useful, reassuring, and easy to read.

Registrations Team

As part of our ongoing series introducing the teams who work across the practice, we’d like to share a little more about the role of our Registrations Team.

Our Registrations Team works behind the scenes to make sure patient records are accurate and up to date.
• They update contact and personal details, such as phone numbers, email addresses, names, and dates of birth, helping us stay in touch with you
• They also follow up missing or incomplete medical records when patients join the practice
• Process registration documents and ensure records are accurate and complete
• The team records Lasting Power of Attorney information on patient records and handles the registration of all new patients, ensuring records are set up correctly from the start.

Reminder for New Patients

A quick reminder for new patients: Please ensure your patient registration form is completed fully and accurately. We’ve recently received some forms missing essential information, including name, date of birth, contact details (SMS/email), current and previous address, previous GP, and nominated pharmacy. Providing all details helps us to register you faster and avoid delays.

Bridport Patient Participation Group

Bridport PPG have recently met on the 19th of February. Practice updates were delivered from Ammonite. The group hasn’t met since July 2025 and currently doesn’t have a chairperson or notetaker, this was discussed with the group as well as the need for some new members. The next meeting will be held sometime in May.

Maiden Newton & Tunnel Road PPG

The group met back in January of this year. Ammonite shared the results of an NHS led yearly survey of the practice that was very positive. The improvements at Maiden Newton are now complete and the reception area has a new, better working look. The PPG are planning an AGM in May this year with more details and a date to follow.

Both PPG groups are currently looking for new members. If you would like to make a positive difference and have your voice heard we would love for you to get involved. You don’t need any special qualification—just an interest in supporting your practice and improving local healthcare services. We welcome members from all backgrounds, ages, and experiences to ensure our group reflects our diverse patient population. If you think you might be interested, please fill in an expression of interest form or drop in an expression of interest at reception

A Fresh New Welcome at Maiden Newton

We’re pleased to share that our Maiden Newton site has recently had a brand-new reception area installed. The updated space has been designed to create a brighter, more welcoming environment for everyone visiting the practice.

We hope the new layout will make checking in and speaking with our reception team even smoother and more comfortable. We’re proud to continue investing in our facilities to improve the experience for patients across all our sites.

Clarification on the NHS App

We’ve recently had a number of enquiries about the NHS App. While we’re always happy to help where we can, we’d like to clarify that the NHS App is a national service and is not managed by the Ammonite Health Partnership.

If you are having trouble logging in or setting up the NHS App, the quickest way to resolve this is by contacting NHS App support directly through the app or via the NHS website

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Many symptoms of ovarian cancer can be vague and easy to overlook. Persistent bloating, pelvic pain, or feeling full quickly are important symptoms to discuss with your GP if they occur frequently.

Key symptoms:

  • Persistent bloating
  • Feeling full quickly
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Needing to urinate more often

Early diagnosis makes a significant difference, so please contact the practice if you are concerned.

mental health

Mental Wellbeing & Winter Blues

Testicular cancer is most common in younger men (ages 15–49) but is very treatable when found early. Make a habit of checking yourself monthly – if you find any lumps, swelling, or changes in size or texture, book an appointment promptly.

Winter can affect your mood, especially with short days and cold weather.

Tips to support your mental wellbeing:

  • Stay connected – call or meet friends and family
  • Get outside – even a short walk in daylight can boost mood
  • Look after your sleep and routine – try to keep regular sleep patterns
  • Talk about how you feel – your GP, nurse, or local support services can help

Remember: Feeling low sometimes is normal in winter, but if your mood worsens or lasts more than a couple of weeks, reach out for support.
